A Call to United Prayer
Pastor Les Vnasdale
Our Conference 2010 theme is "The Christian's Armor and Warfare." The most extensive passage on the subject
(Ephesians 6:10-20) ends with the command to pray. A vital part of the spiritual struggle in which we are involved is
prayer. Many are calling for Christians to "take back our nation," to get involved in the political struggle over the erosion of
our rights as Americans. There are so many causes crying for our attention, our support
and our active participation, that we must choose where we are going to invest our time, our energy and our offerings.
If we are to be part of the spiritual warfare which is going on, we must decide how our General would have us engaged.
The battle orders we have received are found in His Word. We are to be praying for:
1. the saints (Ephesians 6:18)
2. boldness for those given to spreading the Gospel (Ephesians 6:19)
3. for all men (1 Timothy 2:1)
4. for government authorities (1 Timothy 2:2)
In light of number 4 let's pray publicly and privately for our nation's leaders. Let's not get entangled in the affairs of this life (2 Timothy 2:4) to the point that
we neglect our true duty to the One Who called us to be in His army. This is the very best and most we can do to affect
the situation. If indeed we believe that He is coming soon, let's be involved in that to which our General has called us..
